UPDATE: Man arrested after bomb squad cops probe suspicious package near Singer train station

THE bomb squad has locked down an area near a train station as officers probe a suspicious package.

Police remain on the scene on Kilbowie Road, in Clydebank, after the alarm was raised at around 12.15pm today.

Singer railway station has been closed as a precaution, but it is understood the package is not inside the West Dunbartonshire transport hub.

“Emergency services, including EOD, are in attendance and carrying out enquiries.”

Trains and buses have been diverted from the area in recent hours while officers inspect the package.

ScotRail bosses say services are beginning to return to normal, however.
