A WOULD-be housebreaker was snared by his DNA found on a hoodie he discarded as he fled.

Scott Milne, 45, broke into William and Norma Taylor's property in Hillhead on July 19, 2018.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Miss Taylor was startled after seeing Milne leaving the property empty handed.

Prosecutor Hannah Terrance said: "Her husband chased Milne and shouted thief which alerted a neighbour.

"He pursued Milne and chased him on his bike.

"He got hold of his hooded top but Milne freed himself by taking it off."

Forensic scientists analysed the top and found Milne's DNA on it.

He handed himself into police in January this year.

Milne pleaded guilty to housebreaking with intent to steal and was granted bail pending reports before his sentencing next month.
