More than half the adult population have now had a first dose of covid vaccine with another 34,940 on Tuesday and 2,249,612 overall.

The latest coronavirus statistics showed the re were another 692 cases reported across Scotland which was 3.1% of all tests carried out.

It take the total cases since the pandemic started to 215,075.

There were 321 people in hospital, which was down by 21 on the previous day and 31 patients in intensive care with Covid-19 up by 3.

Another three deaths were registered of a person who tested positive in the previous 28 days.

The weekly death total was 65, which was 39 fewer than the week before and half of the total two weeks ago.

First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon said it was “evidence of vaccinations reducing deaths in the community as well as in care homes.”
