Glasgow has been told to brace for heavy rain, as a flood alert was put into affect for the west of the country. 

The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency issued the guidance as forecasters predict the city is set for heavy rain from 3PM today. 

The warning said: "This alert is for river and surface water flooding. Locally heavy rain may affect the west of the area from late Saturday and during Sunday.

"There is a risk of isolated flooding of low lying land and roads from surface water and small watercourses.

"Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property."

It comes as much of the country has recieved similar guidance, although no Met Office weather warning has been issued for Glasgow.
