A SEX predator raped a sleeping woman - while on bail for a similar attack.

Andrew Kane, 21, pounced on the victim at his home in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire last October 3.

The 20-year-old awoke to find her clothes pulled down and Kane having sex with her.

After the woman protested she had been sleeping, the rapist stated: "That is not the first time someone has told me that."

The High Court in Glasgow heard today how Kane had previously struck on February 23, 2020.

He was at a house in the city's Drumchapel when he later lay beside this first victim.

Both then appeared to be sleeping.

But, similar to the later victim, the 21-year-old woman wakened and found her trousers at her ankles.

Kane was confronted about what happened, but he soon left his crying victim.

Prosecutor Blair Speed said Kane was arrested the next day.

He appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on February 25 charged with the rape and was freed on bail.

This meant he was back on the streets and able to attack the second woman months later.

The court today was told how the later victim hid in a bathroom until Kane had gone.

She was described as "visibly upset and shaking".

First offender Kane pleaded guilty to both rape charges at the hearing today.

His lawyer Sean Templeton said: "He wants me to convey his deepest apologies to both of these young women."

Lady Stacey remanded him in custody and deferred sentencing until next month for reports.
