A THUG who broke a pub worker's nose after being kicked out a popular Celtic bar has avoided jail.

Scott Simpson headbutted Kirsty Hanlon, 24, during the incident at Grace's in Glasgow's Merchant City on May 5 2019.

The 32-year-old pleaded guilty Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the bar supervisor to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

Simpson, of the city's Simshill, was on Tuesday ordered to pay £2,500 in compensation, do 225 hours on paid work and was put under supervision for 10 months by Sheriff Ian Fleming.

A previous hearing was told how drunken Simpson had been staggering about the pub.

He then became aggressive and was ordered to get out by security.

But, prosecutor Claire Wallace said: “Moments later, he went back in and used patrons and tables to evade staff.

“He approached Miss Hanlon and put his face close to her in an attempt to intimidate her.

“Simpson then leaned forward and struck her to the bridge of her nose with his forehead.”

The concussed victim ended up needing hospital treatment.

Miss Wallace added: “She was unable to get an X-ray due to the swelling to her nose.

“She suffered a broken nose with a scar on the bridge."
