A RANGERS player will stand trial accused of dangerous driving on a motorway.

Dapo Mebude allegedly drove at grossly excessive speeds for the road conditions on Glasgow’s M8 near Townhead on April 2 2020.

The 19-year-old is also accused of attempting to perform an undertake manoevre when it was unsafe to do so.

Prosecutors state Mebude narrowly avoided a collision with another motor vehicle on the road.

It is further stated that Mebude failed to maintain proper control of his Mercedes Gla 200 sports car.

The striker, on loan at Queen of the South, pleaded not guilty at a hearing in Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

A trial was set for May by Sheriff Neil Mackinnon who bailed Mebude, of the city's Queenslie meantime.
