SCAFFOLDING collapsed at a building site for plush flats in the West End.

Part of the structure at the Ambassador Living site was damaged by high winds today, said a spokeswoman for the project.

Glasgow Times:

She added that there were no reports of any injuries after the incident and that the site and part of Lynedoch Place, where the site stands, was blocked off.

Andrew Meikle, an eyewitness at the scene, said earlier this afternoon: "Crazy times, the new Park Quadrant Residences roof scaffolding came down.

"Doesn't look like anyone was injured thankfully. The area is not safe though, would avoid Lynedoch Place on foot or car, stuff still falling down."

"The safety of all residents and our workforce is our main priority, both the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Police Scotland have been informed," the site's spokeswoman said.

Glasgow Times:

A spokesman for the HSE said inspectors were unaware of the incident but that a report may have been filed under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013, in which case they would find out about it in a few days.

Police said there was no danger to the public.

Glasgow Times:

A spokeswoman for the force said: "Police were called at around 2pm after scaffolding had fallen from a building under construction on Lynedoch Street, Glasgow.

"There is no danger to the public as the building is not lived in.

Glasgow Times:

"The road has been closed by the scaffolding contractors at the location who are in the process of securing and removal of same.

"There was no further police action."
