TRIBUTES have flooded in for a well-loved woman who was murdered after a “brutal attack” in her own home in Maryhill.

Jaqueline Grant was found dead in her flat in Cumlodden Drive on Tuesday evening. Police confirmed on Thursday night they have launched a murder investigation.

Her neighbours, family and friends were rocked by the tragic news and paid tribute to the 54-year-old online.

One wrote: “So sad to be reading this, one of my good school friends. Thoughts go to Jackie’s family one of the nicest ladies you could meet.”

A former neighbour said: “I can’t believe what I’m reading.

“You stayed up the stair from me.You were an amazing neighbour and friend, you were so kind, caring and always knew how to make me laugh.

“You will be sadly missed thoughts are with you family at this sad time.”

We revealed previously how police calling at nearby homes were asking neighbours if they had heard a commotion the night before Jaqueline’s body was found.

One neighbour whose flat overlooks the crime scene said she was only aware of the police presence in Cumlodden Drive on Tuesday evening when a friend texted her to tell her to look out the window.

Her partner added: “It’s shocking to have something happening like that on your doorstep and not hear anything.”

Maryhill Housing Association’s (MHA) director of operations, Jennifer Simon, was in the Sandbank Terrace car park from 10am yesterday morning to speak to anyone who needed help.

MHA bosses wrote: “We understand that this has been a difficult week for our customers at Cumlodden Drive.”

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Grainger, of the Major Investigations Team, said: “Jacqueline died as a result of a brutal attack in her home and her family are devastated by what has happened.

“We have a dedicated team of officers dealing with the case supported by local officers and specialist resources including forensic and search trained officers, carrying out a detailed search of her home and the local area.
