A PUB's beer garden was targeted by "mindless vandalism" this weekend. 

The Stables Country Pub on Kirkintilloch Road has appealed for information after their furniture and grounds were damaged. 

Police have now launched an investigation into the incident. 

A statement on Facebook by the pub asses that fires had been lit on the grounds.

It read: "We would like to remind anyone visiting that our garden is currently closed to comply with COVID 19 guidelines and our team are not on site to clean up the MANY bags of rubbish that have been abandoned.

"We have done our best to go up weekly and clean it but we are asking the public to please take their litter home.

"If anyone has any information please get in contact. Should the persons involved which to approach us and pay for the damages we will not press charges."

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Around 8.25pm on Saturday, 10 April, 2021, police received a report of damage to a premises on Kirkintilloch Road, Kirkintilloch. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
