TODAY’s Times Talent contestant is hoping the competition will open a new chapter in her life.

Pub singer Rose Leckie has been singing since she was three years old and has a wide repertoire including opera.

She is hoping the contest will be a new start after she was suddenly made homeless last year.

Rose moved to Glasgow from Mallaig, in the Highlands, 20 years ago and had to go into homeless accommodation after her landlord sold the flat she was living in. She said: “I’ve had a terrible year of it. “My landlord sold my flat from under me and I was put into the Alexander Thomson hotel.”

As a support worker, Rose did her best to try and help people there. Rose, above, has now moved into a new home in Linthouse and says she couldn’t be happier. She added: “I’m a stronger person than I think.

“You learn to be resilient. People have been so kind to me,”

She has also worked as a karaoke presenter around the pubs in Glasgow and it was from that job she met fellow contestant George Wilson.

Rose is hoping the competition will allow her to turn a corner and get back to doing what she loves.   She said: “Since I’ve not been singing in the pubs, I have lost my Mojo.

“If I won, I would like to make a CD. I write a lot of my own songs.”

Her family is also very musical and all of her four children can sing. Rose added: “Music is so good for the soul. “It’s what gets me through the day.”
