OVERNIGHT road closures will be in place due to essential maintenance and investigations on M8 structures at Charing Cross.

From April 26, until April 30, the westbound carriageway (between Junctions 15 and 19) will be closed between 10pm and 6am each night.

The work will include a second phase of overhead sign gantry flooring repairs on the westbound M8 at the same location.

There will also be an offside lane closure on the eastbound carriageway at the Charing Cross concrete repair works.

Traffic travelling westbound on the M8 will be diverted to exit the motorway at Junction 15 and they will be able to re-join via the Junction 19 on-slip road.

The scheme will benefit vehicles using the route each day, by improving the condition of the structures and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

Amey, who are carrying out the work on behalf of Transport Scotland, say their operatives will follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s Covid-19 guidance.
