EXTENSIVE damage has been caused to a building site after it was deliberately set alight weekend. 

Fire crews were called to tackle the blaze from a house under construction at the side off Tyndrum Crescent in Hamilton on Sunday evening. 

The blaze was extinguished, however significant damage had been caused to the properties.

Police Scotland are treating the fire as deliberate and are looking for two youths who were seen in the area at the time of the incident. 

Detective Constable Ryan Cairney of Lanarkshire CID said: “We are treating these fires as deliberate and are keen to identify and speak to two youths who were seen in the area around 6.40pm.

"One is aged about 15 to 16 years, was white, of slim build, red coloured hair, about 5’5” tall and was wearing light colored jogging bottoms and a dark coloured top.

"The second boy was aged 16 to 17 years, again white, medium build, with dark short hair and was dressed all in black clothing.

"Anyone who has any information which might assist in this inquiry is asked to call us on the 101 number, quoting the reference 3225 of 25 April.
