SINGER and songwriter Amy Macdonald shared a photo of herself eating out in a Glasgow restaurant, as coronavirus restrictions eased yesterday.Ā 

The musician took to Instagram to share the moment with her 118k followers.

She was enjoying food at Ox and Finch, in the city's Finnieston, and said: "Magnificent Monday in a restaurant! What a day."Ā 

As coronavirus restrictions eased across the country, we reported how massive queues were spotted outside the city's shops and pubs as they welcomed customers for the first time in months.

People had been queuing outside Primark since 4.30am, and Hootenany since 10.30am.Ā 

Meanwhile, we spoke to Simon Keane, the ownerĀ of Malones Irish Pub, who were delighted to be back.

He said: ā€œThere was a bit of nervous excitement in the air - for everyone from our kitchen to bar staff and our managers. Everyoneā€™s a bit nervous but also really excited. It feels a bit like Christmas Day. Pubmas, as we call it."Ā 

What rules are in place?

WhileĀ retailers will implement procedures to ensure the safety of customers and staff, it is an individualā€™s responsibility to ensure they comply with the following guidance:

  • Do not visit any retail premises if you have tested positive or have developed any of the Covid-19 symptoms.
  • You must wear a face-covering when you go into any retail premises including any indoor area of a shopping centre, unless exempt. Read theĀ face-covering policy.
  • Maintain a two-metreĀ physical distance between other people.
  • You must follow direction signs, customer flow systems, and shop capacities as indicated by the retailer.
  • During this period adults, unless accompanying a vulnerable person or a child or children under 18, should shop alone.

Will I have to queue to get into a store?

Possibly, yes.

Will I need to sociallyĀ distance?

Yes, you will be required toĀ maintain a 2-metreĀ distancing when in the stores and wear a face mask.

DoĀ I still need to wear a facemask?

Yes, facemasks are still required unless you are excempt.

Will shopping centres reopen too?

Yes, shopping centres will be able to reopen from Monday.

Can IĀ return products?

Yes, but for items that have been tried on but not purchased and or items that have been bought or returned, shops should consider sanitising them before returning them to public display, or only returning them to public display after 72 hours.

Can I leave my council area to shop?

No. YouĀ must stay within your council area for non-essential shopping (including Click and Collect) and should only travel to another area for essential shopping if there are no practical alternatives.

  • Avoid crowded shops. Try to avoid times when shops will be busy. If you do not think you can maintain physical distancing in a shop, go back later.
  • Visit stores that are using infection control measures and use the available hand sanitiser and sanitising stations.
  • Try to avoid touching goods unless you intend to buy them.
  • Be polite. Please ensure that you are considerate to retail staff and abide by their guidance and instructions, including removing your face covering if requested for proof of age.
  • Restrictions on travel for non-permitted activities across local authority boundaries remain in place.Ā  Non-essential shopping is not an exception to this.
