A PRISONER who carried out a "dirty protest" at a police station has been locked up for three months.

Scott Simpson was raging having apparently been left "freezing" in his cell.

The 48 year-old pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner in connection with the incident at Glasgow's Helen Street police office on January 8 this year.

Simpson appeared in the dock accompanied by three guards in protective clothing.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard police had feared Simpson was going to be violent at Helen Street.

He had agreed to be searched and was escorted to a cell, where he took off his clothes.

But, Simpson was then seen to "defecate" before messing the area.

He was heard to state to police: "I'm suffering. If I am suffering, I think you should be too."

Gerry O'Donnell, defending, said: “He was left in the cell in freezing cold conditions in January and he acted in this way.

“This was a gesture of protest in relation to the way he was treated in this nature.

“He was not interviewed about why he was taken to the police station.”
