SCOTRAIL has warned of commuter chaos this morning after a train broke down at a busy Glasgow station.

An engine is stuck at High Street station, the rail operator confirmed, and technicians and the driver are trying to fix the problem.

Trains on the Balloch and Airdrie lines could face serious disruption.

Services from Helensburgh to Edinburgh via Bathgate could be delayed or cancelled.

Passengers heading to or from Edinburgh are advised trains going via Falkirk High, Falkirk Grahamston and Shotts are running normally. 

UPDATE: The train has been removed from the station but services on the above lines may still be disrupted.
