A CAR in Maryhill was torched last night in a "reckless" fire attack.

Fire crews were called to Murano Place at 10.50pm to extinguish flames that tore through a black Subaru Impreza.

Nobody was injured during the incident, however substantial damage was caused to the vehicle.

Detectives are treating the blaze as deliberate.

Detective Constable James Kydd of Maryhill CID said: “We are appealing for information from members of the public relating to this deliberate fire.

“Thankfully no one was injured as a result of this reckless act, but I would like to stress how dangerous wilful fire-raising is and discourage anyone from setting a fire deliberately and know that officers will always investigate any reports robustly and thoroughly.

“If you saw anything suspicious and have not yet already contacted police I would urge you to do so as soon as possible.

“Similarly, if you were driving in the area around the time and were recording via a dashcam device please check your system for any relevant footage.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3698 of 28 April, 2021, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
