A GLASGOW Central employee got an "amazing" birthday surprise from her colleagues today. 

Josie Looi turned 40 today and was met with an announcement put up by her thoughtful coworkers on the information board in the city centre train station.

She said: "I didn't know they were going to do that. But Yvonne, who works for Network Rail comms came down and told me I had to look at the board. 

"I was like: Oh, my god, that's amazing."

Fellow staff members had organised a card and some bought gifts for the customer service assistant on her special day.

The Strathbungo resident is celebrating with a dinner at Toni Macaroni in Silverburn with her husband and three children. 

"It had to be there because the kids love it, so it was a no-brainer," she said.

And she received an unusual present in a deck of cards from a regular passenger. 

"He does magic tricks and comes in to show us tricks," said Josie.

"My son loves magic, so he's showed me some things to show Matthew but we don't have any playing cards so he gave me some today."
