A YOUNG woman was sexually assaulted in Kirkintilloch on Friday night.
Cops are now hunting for the man responsible for the sex attack on the 20-year-old which happened at around 11.20 pm on the north canal footpath between Cowgate and Hillhead Road.
The force said they had launched an investigation and provided no further details or a description of the suspect.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Around 11.20 pm on Friday, April 30, police were called to a report that a 20-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted by a man on the north canal footpath between Cowgate and Hillhead Road, Kirkintilloch, around 11 pm.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
