POLICE Scotland have paid tribute to ex-police dog, Rico, who passed away yesterday.
Rico, who served with police for more than four years, passed away at the age of 13, with the force paying tribute to the canine on Twitter.
They said: "With deep sadness, we announce the passing of #RPDRico.

"He served with distinction throughout his service and will be missed greatly by his family and officers alike.
"Rest easy Rico. Thank you for your service #WeWillRememberYou."

During his career, Rico served with Strathclyde Police, and later Police Scotland.
He was rehomed with his handler, PC Cunningham, following his retirement in 2013.
