GRAFFITI was sprayed on the walls and smashed glass left in the grounds of an iconic West End music venue at the weekend.

A group of "up to 17" young people is believed to be responsible for damage to the Kelvingrove Bandstand. 

It's not yet clear how much repairs will cost but Glasgow Life, which runs the hub, say police have been made aware.

A spokesman for Glasgow Life said: “Kelvingrove Bandstand was vandalised by a large group of up to 17 young people at the weekend who sprayed graffiti on walls and the stage, and smashed glass in the arena.

"Police were alerted by security guards. It’s too early to say how much repairs will cost.”

The iconic venue normally holds events throughout the summer and has in the past played host to star names such as Tom Jones. 

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Enquiries are ongoing after the bandstand in Kelvingrove Park was vandalised on Friday, 21 May.  Anyone with information that may assist our enquiry should contact 101 quoting reference number 2766 of May 21."
