A PUB which has welcomed east end drinkers for more than 100 years is on the market.

The Sheddens Inn gets its name from the old Scots term ‘shed’, which was a strip of land. A ‘sheddins’ was a place where sheep were separated or where roads divided - perhaps a reference to its location near where Shettleston Road and Old Shettleston Road part company.

The traditional bar has been put up for sale for £165,000 by Drysdale & Company.

Stuart Drysdale said: “Acquiring Sheddens Inn, which enjoys strong local custom represents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced publican, and would particularly suit a couple running the venture together."

He added: “The pub is extremely popular on match days, and for televised matches, due to its close proximity to Celtic Park which is just a mile away.”
