PROTESTORS started early ahead of today's Save Our Venues day of action.
Early morning they hung a banner on Glasgow's famous symbol - the Duke of Wellington statue.
The Glasgow Against Closures sign signals the beginning of a day of campaigning in George Square today.
Organisers said they want to "tell the council with one unified voice that the people of Glasgow will not accept the closure of any of our venues."
The message of the event is asking Glasgow City Council to stop any plans for third party takeovers of the city's libraries, community centres and sports venues and that they reopen every venue as soon as possible.
Event organisers added: "People make Glasgow, sadly it's up to us to remind the council of this fact.
"This is an event for all the family, wear your hockey/football/golf/bowls/tennis kit, bring a banner, a book, a stool, a friend for an afternoon of action, speeches, music and spoken word all in unity with one collective message, Save Our Venues."
The day of action starts today at noon in George Square.
