RANGERS have confirmed the departures of midfielder Bongani Zungu and forward Greg Stewart at the end of their respective Ibrox deals.

Zungu will return to French side Amiens following the expiry of his loan spell with Steven Gerrard's side, while Stewart will not be offered an extension to his contract after he struggled to make an impression during his second term with the champions.

Rangers confirmed their exits on Tuesday and 'put on record their sincere thanks' to both players 'as they depart Ibrox following their efforts in delivering 55'.

And sporting director Ross Wilson has praised the efforts of Zungu and Stewart despite their limited impact during a season that saw Gerrard's side clinch the title with an unbeaten Premiership campaign.

Wilson said: “We made a number of changes to the squad last summer and the group has a real strength and connection in it between all of the players.

"Greg and Bongani were two really positive influences and popular members around the group.

“As a Rangers fan I know how much it meant to Greg to help the club clinch the league championship and I am delighted he moves on to his next challenge as a league champion.”
