GREGGS has made moves to open an outlet store in Maryhill.

Planning permission has been put forward to erect a Greggs Outlet sign at a vacant unit on Maryhill Road.

The bakery giant also wants to install two air conditioning condenser units and two extract grilles at the premises.

We reported in October that, what was believed to be the first outlet store in Glasgow, opened in Nitshill.

Glasgow Times:

Another outlet store then opened in Parkhead a couple of months later in December.

The outlet stores sell leftover stock from Greggs stores as well as discontinued items and misshapen products for well below retail price.

Raymond Reynolds, property and business development director at Greggs, previously said: “Our outlet shops are another great way for Greggs to give back to local communities and reduce wastage.

Glasgow Times:

"Everything sold in our outlet shops is still fresh and delicious and offers fantastic value for money.

“A percentage of the proceeds from outlet shops are donated to charities, so we’re looking forward to opening more of these shops in the coming months so that we can continue to support local communities during these uncertain times.”
