A MAN threw an open can of beer at his neighbour after she refused to have a drink with him.

Daniel Connelly, 50, was enraged after Izabela Mularczyk turned him down in Glasgow’s Bridgeton on June 25, 2020.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Connelly initially spoke to Miss Mularczyk over a fence in the garden.

Prosecutor Gemma Barclay said: “He offered her a can of beer and she refused this offer.

“This caused Connelly to become irate and he began shouting and swearing at her.

“He then proceeded to open a can of beer and threw it in her direction.”

Miss Mularczyk fled into her flat and locked the door.

Connelly continued his aggressive behaviour towards her by leaning over the fence and swearing at her.

Miss Barclay added: “He then threw two chairs from his own garden to her garden.

“Miss Mularczyk said she was going to phone the police and Connelly returned to his own garden.”

Connelly pleaded guilty on Thursday to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

Raymond McIlwham, defending, told the court there is “a background between the pair.”

Sentence was deferred until next month for background reports by Sheriff Joan Kerr.

Connelly was granted bail meantime.
