A TEENAGER threw a bottle of his urine and tried to bite a cop during a rammy at a hospital.

Andrew Middlemas was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by ambulance crews and police officers, on January 26 last year.

The 18-year-old, of Scotstoun, became abusive and appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court after previously pleading guilty to three charges.

Glasgow Times:

The prosecutor said: “The accused was within the waiting area and began to shout and swear telling police to ‘f**k off’.

“The accused continued to shout and swear ‘I don’t give a f**k, I’ll punch f**k out of yous, I’ll punch f**k out of the lot of yous’.

“He was informed he was under arrest. As police tried to put handcuffs on him, he began tensing his arms and pulling away.

“He then began to kick out at the police. He was placed on a hospital bed for a medical check, and he continued to kick out.

“Whilst being restrained onto the bed, he opened his mouth and attempted to bite a police officer on the left arm.

“Thereafter the accused stated that he needed to go to the bathroom and was provided with a urine bottle. He took the bottle, which contained his urine, and threw the contents on the cubicle beside him.”

Middlemas was sedated due to his behaviour and was left to sober up. When he regained consciousness, he was discharged, and spat on the hospital floor on his way out.

The court heard that the teenager has since made attempts to take full responsibility for his actions.

His defence solicitor said: “He is engaging meaningfully with various projects at the moment, including an alcohol awareness course.

“He is making efforts into securing employment. He has received a glowing report from a local youth project in Yoker.

“Since the offence, good steps have been made by him to address his behaviour. He is in the process of becoming a qualified BMX coach.”

Sheriff Mary Shields said that Middlemas has “so much to offer”, and deferred sentencing to the youth court for later this month.
