ASDA check-out worker Abigail Lyons is set to take the art world by force after her work was selected to appear in a prestigious Milan gallery.
The 19-year-old’s work will show in the M.A.D.S Art Gallery in Milan at the end of the month. She said: "I couldn't believe it at first when one of the curators got in touch - it really was such a nice surprise and I just felt so happy afterwards.
"The artwork is an identity piece and has four different images made up as one. It has four faces with the tops halves of each removed. I've only displayed my art at college before so to have a gallery from Milan – one of the art capitals of the world – wanting to show one of my pieces is so exciting.”
"I was on a shift at work when I first found out the news and I couldn't wait to tell my mum Carolyn. My colleagues here are so happy for me and proud!"
Service Manager of Asda Bishopbriggs, Emma Watson, said:
"We are all very chuffed for Abigail. It's a fantastic achievement for her at such a young age as well.
"Abigail is a lovely, bubbly colleague who is a valued member of our team – we’re all very happy for her!"
