Thousands of Scotland fans have swamped the city's Glasgow Green to watch Scotland play in their first major tournament in 23 years.

Saltires and kilts were on full display today at the park as up to 3,000 fans gathered to watch Scotland play in their opening match against the Czech Republic.

Fans described the atmosphere as ‘electric’ as they headed towards the Euro Fan Zone to watch the game kick-off at 2.00 pm.

Sean Killoran, 26, from Paisley, said: “This game has been a long time coming.

"It’s been 23 years since we did a major tournament, and I was three years old.

"Today will be the first time I have seen Scotland play in a tournament like this.

"I can’t wait, I couldn’t sleep last night.

"It means so much to me to go and see Scotland after so many years of going to games with my granddad and going through the heartbreak of watching us lose, and then finally we get to this moment.

"We have to make the most of it, and we have a great team, a great manager.

"We need to make the most of this group stage. I feel like we can do really well.”
