EMPTY city centre offices can be converted into a restaurant, the council has ruled.
Permission has been given to Sava Estates for a site at the corner of Renfield Street and West George Lane.
The applicant, Sava Estates, will turn the ground floor and basement of the A-listed building into a restaurant, with takeaway.
It is expected the opening hours will be from 10am to midnight seven days per week.
“This is a dynamic and vibrant part of the city and while not a major shopping street is the location of many bars, diners and quality restaurants,” the plans stated.
“The proposed development will not only bring back into use a vacant property but will in the process energise and vitalise this part of the city centre.
“In the evening and winter months, the splay of light from the large windows will illuminate the footpath creating a feeling of safety and security, so essential if the night-time economy is to succeed.”
