McDonald's has announced that it is looking to hire 20,000 more people across the UK with 11 Glasgow restaurants currently recruiting.

The fast food chain plans to open over 50 new restaurants in the UK over the next 12 months.

It comes in anticipation of increased crew capacity as part of changing Government coronavirus guidelines.

The firm said that the additions are not to replace the jobs lost throughout the pandemic, and are instead to prepare for the additional restaurants.

The new openings are part of a wider investment by McDonald's ensure that its restaurants, including UK high streets, are fit for the future and the experience meets the latest preferences and expectations.

Flexible layouts will also be trialled to adapt to the different ways customers use the restaurants at different times of the day.
