A WOMAN who repeatedly targeted her neighbour with abuse has dodged jail.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that Donna Campbell shouted, swore and grabbed the hair of a woman who lived nearby.

On one occasion she also repeatedly tried to spit at a man who attempted to intervene when she was kicking off.

Depute fiscal Tanjeel Maleque told the court of three separate incidents where the 44-year-old hurled abuse at the other woman outside their Maryhill homes.

He said: "On March 2, 2019 about 3pm the witness was at home when she heard the accused outside screaming and shouting.

"She went to look out of the window and saw the accused standing in front of her house directing verbal abuse towards her and shouting "fat cow".

"She continued to shout and swear so the witness shouted down and told the accused to go away."

Later that day, at around 8pm, the witness and her family had returned to park their car outside the house.

They saw Campbell running down the stairs of her own building.

The witness ushered her family in to the house and went to Campbell in an attempt to prevent the her coming to her house.

The witness and Campbell began arguing and she issued threats towards her, shouting that she was getting "done in" and that she "knew people".

Campbell then grabbed the woman by the hair using both hands.

This was witnessed by the complainer's partner who made attempts to restrain her.

The woman became free and made her way back to her own address but Campbell was continuing to shout and swear so the police were called and the accused was arrested.

The court then heard that on September 20 last year, around 1.50pm, the neighbour drove in to the car park of her residence.

She noticed the accused coming out on to her balcony shouting towards her in an abusive manner.

This continued for about 10 to 15 minutes.

The accused was at this time subject to bail conditions not to approach or contact the woman.

She continued to shout: "Beastie b******" and "paedophile" and "You'll not know where it's coming from but you'll get it".

Around 2.30pm the witness was with another witness who tried to defuse the accused who became abusive towards him and tried to spit towards him, although missed.

This continued and the police were called and Campbell was arrested.

She shouted that the police officers were also "paedophiles" and that they "take backhanders from the PFs".

On September 26, 2020 the accused was arrested after being found in the common close of the witness, despite bail conditions not to approach her.

Campbell's defence lawyer said she has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

He said: "That condition is exacerbated by drink."

Sheriff Patricia Pryce said: "If you continue to allow this situation [with your neighbour] to flare up , you're going to be spending time in custody.

"It is not worth is.

"You have to find a better way to deal with it."

The sheriff sentenced Campbell to 250 hours of unpaid work and placed her on a community payback order with two year's supervision.
