A DISCOUNT giant has revealed plans to bring 50 new jobs to Dalmarnock.

Home Bargains has announced their new store opening date for October this year.

The chain is well-known for providing a wide variety of goods including cosmetics, beauty, household items, stationery and groceries. Home Bargains already have a branch in nearby Rutherglen, but it is understood they intend to keep this open.

The new branch is currently under construction on Dalmarnock Road as part of the Clyde GatewayTrading Outlet.

Recruitment is underway and the discount giant has encouraged people to look out for new job opportunities including store assistants, supervisors and cleaners.

Developers are rapidly throwing up the household favourite which is part of a £150million Clyde Gateway project to bring investment to the area.

In addition, almost 1000 new homes will be built close to the retail park by Link Housing who provide affordable homes. A new Starbucks drive-thru is also coming to the retail park.

Martin McKay, Executive Director for Regeneration at Clyde Gateway said: “The arrival of Home Bargains to the thriving Clyde Gateway area is welcome news. The chain store will not only serve as an essential retail establishment but will also bring more jobs and opportunities to the local residents thus reinforcing Clyde Gateway as ‘the place’ for people to live and work.”

A spokeswoman from Home Bargains said: “We are really excited to be opening our new store due to open in October 2021, creating upwards of 50 new jobs for the local community.

“As such, we will soon be recruiting for store supervisors, store assistants and store cleaners, and would encourage those interested to keep an eye on our careers website (jobs.homebargains.co.uk) for roles being advertised.”
