PUPILS at a Bishopbriggs school are celebrating, after becoming the only Scottish finalists to take part in a national geography competition.

S3 students at Turnbull High School have made it to the final of the Micro Tyco Innovate award.

The UK-wide award has also seen pupils from schools in England, but Turnbull pupil's mark the only representation for Scotland.

The school have been so successful that two separate groups have been nominated for the award.

Pupils Grace Darley and Eva O’Hara developed an idea to use leftover food from the school's canteens to supply soup kitchens in and around Glasgow, with fellow students Faith Olawuyi, Anna Hendry and Skye Hadfield developing an idea to raise money to buy educational equipment for those in need.

Winners of the award will be announced later today.
