A THUG who torched a Tory councillor's home bungled the attack and set himself on fire. 

The bumbling attacker is believed to have suffered burns to his arms, face and body after setting Graeme Campbell's cars and home on fire on Friday, June 19.

Police are now urging the public to come forward if they are aware of anyone who suffered burns in "suspicious circumstances" over the weekend. 

The suspect is described as being of a slim build. He was wearing a dark beanie hat, a jogging top with two stripes down both shoulders and the hood up, jogging bottoms with two stripes down each leg, a high-vis reflective jacket and a rucksack. He was also wearing a face mask.

Mr Campbell serves as a Conservative councillor representing Avondale and Stonehouseon South Lanarkshire council

Tory colleague Russell Findlay said it was the third time he had been attacked. 

Mr Campdbell told the Daily Record he had been targeted over a case he had been working on as part of his job.
