A WAYWARD canoe closed a busy motorway lane last night.
Traffic was diverted to avoid the out of place vessel on the M8 westbound close to Glasgow Airport.

Lane 1 of 3 is closed on the M8 westbound between J27A and J28 due to a canoe on the carriageway. Please #TakeCare on approach.

Traffic Scotland advised motorists "swim over" to lanes two and three while the owner of the raft came to collect it.

Police were called to the scene at around 8.35pm yesterday, the trunk road management body confirmed.
It has since been safely removed from the carriageway.
The force has been contacted for comment.
