A MAN left his partner badly hurt in a car crash having earlier tried to kill her, it is claimed.

Scott Reid allegedly committed the offences on March 8 2020 in Newton Mearns.

An attempted murder charge initially claims the 37 year-old detained the woman at a house before assaulting her.

Prosecutors allege she was punched, kicked and threatened with a knife.

Reid is said to have locked them in the bathroom before the woman was struck on the neck with the blade.

A further charge alleges Reid then drove dangerously and at speed while with the woman in a car.

It is claimed he was also “under the influence of alcohol”.

Reid is accused of losing control of the motor resulting in the vehicle smashing into and badly damaging a house in Newton Mearns.

Reid’s legal team pleaded not guilty on his behalf to attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He also denied charges of assault, drink driving and attempting to defeat the ends of justice during the hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.

Lady Scott continued the case until November.

Bail for Reid, of the city’s Pollokshields, was continued meantime.
