POLICE have revealed they suspect a string of fire attacks across the city may be linked.

Over a three day period, there have been five separate incidents of motors being torched in the Garthamlock, Craigend, Milton and Maryhill areas.

We reported earlier today that the incidents began on Tuesday with a further incident in the early hours of this morning.

Police are now asking members of the public for any information they may have surrounding the wilful fireraising attacks.

They have reassured the public that there will be increased police presence in the area.

Detective Constable Grant Watson of Shettleston CID described the attacks as 'completely reckless.' He added: “These incidents of wilful fireraising have been completely reckless and I want to make it clear that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated in our communities.

“Thankfully no one was injured in these incidents but setting deliberate fires is highly dangerous and we are doing everything we can to find those responsible.

“I’d also like to reassure the public that there will be an increased police presence in the area to carry out investigations to tackle this problem and prevent any further instances occurring.

“I would encourage anyone who has information which could be of assistance to please come forward.

“If you do have any information, or if you may have seen anything or maybe have dashcam footage or private CCTV footage of any of the incidents please contact police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 0191 of 22 June, or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
