POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a derelict property in Paisley was discovered ablaze.
A crew from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was able to extinguish the flames inside the Forbes Place premises, Renfrewshire, at around 11.55pm on Wednesday before anyone was injured.
Police, who confirmed the incident is being treated as wilful fireraising, said an unknown group had entered the property and set the floor alight.
Detective Constable Gary Bruce said: "Deliberately setting fires is extremely reckless. The consequences could have been far more severe had this fire spread.
"Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity around the property late on Wednesday, June 23 is urged to come forward.
"Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 0127 of June 24 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
