TWO Glaswegian auxiliary nurses have celebrated Pride Month during the pandemic by getting married.

Lyndsey and Lisa Sinclair, both from Baillieston met each other while working at a care home in 2013.

The happy couple tied the knot at the Tennox Boathouse in Largs earlier this month, although Covid restriction meant that a limited number of people were allowed at the ceremony.

Lynsey, 25, who is currently working in the critical care unit at the South Side hospital, said: “It’s been fantastic and we’re really happy.

Glasgow Times:

"Despite the COVID restrictions which meant we could only have five people at the wedding, it was amazing.

"It’s also a stroke of luck we’re both now working at the same hospital campus.”

Despite the reduced numbers allowed at the ceremony, the couple felt it was the next step to take in their relationship after both landing permanent jobs.

Lyndsey and Lisa were both transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after completing the last six months of their training.

Glasgow Times:

The couple, who had previously separately worked in care homes before meeting, decided to move into auxiliary nursing during the Covid pandemic to help support frontline NHS staff.

Lisa, who works at the Institute for Neuro Sciences, said: “We have worked in health care since we left school, and we’re passionate about helping patients, which is why we both recently moved into training as auxiliary nurses.

"It’s a great environment to work in and we both have amazing and supportive colleagues who’ve helped us settle into our new roles and congratulated us on our news.”

Lisa and Lyndsey are hoping that, once Covid restrictions allow, they will be able to have a bigger celebration of the marriage with friends and family.

Frances McLinden, Director for the South Sector, congratulated the couple on their new union.

She said: “I speak on behalf of all the team in congratulating the Sinclairs, and wish them all the best with their marriage and their new careers.”
