FIRST Bus is honouring workers who gave their lives in the Armed Forces with a new dedicated memorial.
The bus firm unveiled a garden of remembrance at its flagship depot in Glasgow on Armed Forces Day over the weekend.
The Caledonia Depot in Cathcart Road is now home to First World War memorials previously housed in Parkhead.
They commemorate tram workers from depots in Whitevale, Dennistoun, Langside and Newlands who tragically died during the Great War.
Duncan Cameron, Interim Managing Director for First Bus in Scotland, said: “We’re proud to be able to honour our fellow transport colleagues through the creation of a dedicated remembrance garden within our flagship depot at Caledonia.
“It’s therefore fitting that we’re able to unveil the memorials located within the garden in time for Armed Forces Day.
“It’s important that our present day staff have a focal point where they can reflect on the actions of previous colleague, friends and family members that paid the ultimate price
A rededication service is planned for workers to attend after coronavirus are further relaxed later this year.
Unite the Union’s national convener, Mick Dowds added: “We’re proud to be involved in the unveiling of the remembrance Garden.”
