GLASGOW postcodes have been hit with a power cut this afternoon, with SP Networks stating that they are working hard to restore the service. 

The power outage in the East End of the city was reported at 2.46pm, with postcode G21 and G31 affected by the cut. 

SP Network teams are working to restore power to the area, with the hope of power coming back by 5.00pm. 

The reason for the power outage is currently unknown.

In a statement online, SP Networks said: "There is a power cut in the G21 and G31 postcode areas of Glasgow. We had no advance warning of this and only became aware of it at 2.46pm.

"Our control centre will attempt to reset the network remotely to restore power in stages, and our emergency response team are on their way to the Eastercraigs Primary substation to investigate and repair the fault.

"Our team will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 5.00pm. Once they arrive, or when we receive any update regarding the cause, we will be able to provide you with more information.

"We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."
