A MAJOR incident, which caused a beauty spot near Glasgow to be locked down this evening, was a false alarm.
Police have confirmed they found no-one hurt or in difficulty at the Dams to Darnley Country Park, despite fears people were in trouble in the Ryat Linn Resevoir water.
A large number of emergency crews were spotted in the Aurs Road area - between Barrhead and Newton Mearns - from around 7pm.
But cops now say it was a "false alarm" and confirmed they would be reminding people of water safety in the coming days.
Inspector Alex Beagrie said: “Around 7.15pm on Monday, June 28, police were called to a report of people in difficulty in the water at Ryat Linn Resevoir, Aurs Road, Barrhead.
"Emergency services attended, and following enquiries, confirmed no-one was in difficulty.
“Local officers will be liaising with partners to remind people of the importance of water safety over the coming days."
