A YOUNG man was attacked by a gang of vicious thugs in a late-night ambush near Glasgow.
The 23-year-old was walking in Stirling Road at its junction with Bellsmyre Avenue, Dumbarton when the group pounced on him at around 11.45pm on Monday, June 28.
He was taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital for treatment to his injuries. Medics described his condition as stable.
The hunt is now on to track down those responsible.
Police said they had little information on the attackers and that their motive was unknown but said it is thought they were between 18 and 25-years-old.
They made off in the direction of the town centre after the assault.
Detective Constable Geoff McKillop said: “The motive for this attack is unknown and a young man has been injured. I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact us. In particular, any motorists with dashcam devices are asked to check their cameras. They may have captured an image that could assist our investigation.
"Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0045 of 28 June 2021. Alternatively, please contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously."
