Glasgow's Pride procession will take place in September this year, in one of only three planned marches across the UK.

The event has been rescheduled from the original date this month to allow an in-person march to go ahead.

Here's everything you need to know about the plans for the procession...

What date will Glasgow's Pride procession take place?

Glasgow's Pride procession will take place on Saturday September 4, having been cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19.

Other events around the UK include the Manchester march on August 28 and London's procession on September 11.

How many people will attend?

Thousands of people are expected to attend the procession, with almost 10,000 marchers taking to the streets between Kelvingrove Park and George Square in 2019.

Instead of an in-person event last year, Glasgow's Pride joined with other groups to host an online global event celebrating LGBTQ+ communities worldwide which attracted 57 million viewers.

What have the organisers said about the event?

Daniel Syme, chairman of the organising committee, said: “Covid-19 has been so tough for everyone, but particularly the LGBT+ communities as we have seen a large increase in hate crimes in Scotland and also the rise of brutality and removal of legal rights across eastern Europe.

“It is no surprise that LGBT communities have seen some of the sharpest rises in mental health decline and, tragically, suicides.

“It is therefore right that we hold a march to show people they are not alone and also give our allies the chance to march with us and show support for equality.”
