A PETITION launched to call for Glasgow City Council to open more public toilets has now reached over 1200 signatures.

The Glasgow Times reported last month how Bridgeton woman, Patricia Fort launched the petition after she claimed she witnessed people urinating in public close to Glasgow Green.

She said: “The topic really seems to have hit home with Glasgow residents and now has more signatures than any other on the City Council website. However, there is always room for more. The more signatures the better for when I go into plead the case with the Petitions Committee.”

The petition closes on Wednesday and Patricia is now set to appear at the council’s petitions committee later this year.

Previously, a spokesman for Glasgow City Council said: “We are aware of the petition as we have an established process that allows Glasgow residents to raise issues of concern directly with the council. While we have a number of public toilets within our parks there are public buildings with toilets which are operating albeit on a limited capacity.”
