Shane Duffy could be on track for a return to an unhappy hunting ground this pre-season - as Brighton prepare to make the trip to Ibrox for a friendly.

Rangers will welcome the former Celtic loanee and his teammates to Glasgow on July 24 as part of their preparations for the new season.

Duffy endured a nightmare campaign at Parkhead last season and was sent back to his parent club having been criticised over the course of the season for some poor performances.

Now the Light Blues have confirmed Graham Potters' troops will play in a 5.30pm kick-off time on July 24.

A statement on their club website confirmed: "Rangers can today announce a friendly with Premier League Brighton and Hove Albion at Ibrox on Saturday, July 24. The Champions will take on the Seagulls at 5:30pm, just a week before the start of the Scottish Premiership season.

"Known for how competitive they are against the ‘Top Six’ in the English Premier League, managed by Graham Potter, they are preparing for a record fifth-straight season in the highest division down south.

"Packed with international talent too, they will provide a fine test for Steven Gerrard’s side in the latter part of their pre-season preparations for what will be a hectic August with Premiership, Champions League and League Cup matches to factor in.

"Ticketing and broadcast information for the fixture will be communicated in due course."
