COUNCIL bosses have launched a probe into a Glasgow bar after they allegedly hosted a stripper evening, despite the city being in level 2 Covid-19 restrictions.

The Butterfly Lounge on Cochrane Street held the event under a "Thirsty Tuesdays" banner where the Daily Record reports the adult entertainer performed a risque routine for a large crowd of punters.

Under Level 2 restrictions, adult entertainment is not permitted.

A spokeswoman for Glasgow City Council confirmed that the venue is under investigation for any breaches of coronavirus rules. She said:"We are aware of the incident and are investigating.”

A Scottish Government spokesman said: “It is vital that all premises operate within the rules in their area. We remain in a delicate position, with the Delta variant causing additional levels of concern and we do not want to undermine the hard work and sacrifices that have been made to get us to this point.

“Anyone with concerns around compliance can report it to their local authority or the police.”
