In a year that’s taught us so much about the importance of our health, we can’t help but feel that our motivation to visit the gym isn’t quite what it used to be.
Endless lockdown movie marathons and pitiful attempts to keep up with Joe Wick’s P.E class mean that we're finding the thought of returning to our pre-covid workout schedules a little daunting.
If you’re feeling the same, it might be time to shake up your routine with an outdoor bootcamp. There’s nothing like the team spirit, fresh air and endorphins these sessions reward you with to get you back to feeling great.
We’ve compiled a list of six classes from all over the city which suit all levels of ability below:
Paul Wallace Fitness
These classes are held in Glasgow Green by Paul Wallace who has over 10 years of experience in the industry and a genuine passion for fitness.
His outdoor class is a ‘professionally run bootcamp designed for full-body fat annihilation, featuring strength, cardio increasing, fun team-building exercises to tone and sculpt your physique. Perfect for those who want to achieve their fitness goals away from a busy gym or studio.’
Be Military Fit
Be Military Fit classes are run all over Glasgow from Kelvingrove to Bellahouston.
Put your strength to the test with these army-inspired bootcamps which have three different levels ‘blue for beginners, red for intermediates, and green for advanced participants.’
Be Military Fit said: “Military training strategies are used to get the most out of our members in every session, whilst using our knowledge and understanding of the body to get the very best fitness results.”
Intense.
2 PT’S
Bootcamp Outdoor Group Exercise Personal Training | 2PT's | Glasgow (2pts.co.uk)
This bootcamp was established by two ex-pure gym employees who decided to use their combined expertise to create their own unique outdoor class.
Held at GHA Rugby Club just outside Glasgow, expect some seriously hands-on training in these sessions where it’s promised ‘you will be pushed out your comfort zone, but will have fun.’
One exercise in which participants are asked to strike rubber tyres with heavy metal hammers looks like the perfect combination of stress release and fitness building to us... if you’re up for the challenge.
More Than Fitness Bootcamp
HIIT HARD & MA | MTF Home (mtf-home.com)
Do some good for your local community while you’re working out with the More than Fitness team who host 'Foodbank Bootcamp’ classes at Glasgow green.
These classes are free to book and are suitable for all fitness levels. All the team ask is that you bring a food/household donation with you which is then donated over to the Glasgow SE foodbank.
Guaranteed to have you feeling fantastic inside and out.
Fit for it
Fitforit - Personal Training and Bootcamps in Glasgow Southside (fitforitpt.com)
Previously known as Parkfit, Fit For It holds exercise classes in the South Side of the city and claims to be ‘Glasgow’s friendliest bootcamp.’
The Fit for it team say that they owe their success to the sense of team spirit that’s created by their classes, which are suitable for all abilities.
They said: ‘It’s a great escape from being stuck indoors at work all day. It is an amazing way to lift your spirits even when it’s raining. The comradeship within the gang when it gets really muddy is hilarious!’
