A TRANSATLANTIC flight was diverted to Glasgow after the pilot noticed a "technical issue".

The London-Seattle flight was spotted circling over the Western Isles late yesterday afternoon before turning back towards Glasgow.

The plane was checked over by engineers at Glasgow Airport and departed again at 7.05pm and has since landed safely at Seattle.

A spokesman for British Airways confirmed with the Daily Record that the incident had taken place.

He said: "Safety is always our priority and our experienced pilots diverted our flight into Glasgow after they became aware of an indication of a minor technical issue.

“Our engineers are currently investigating while our cabin crew look after our customers. We hope to continue the flight shortly.”
